The Glitter Bay Resort is unique on the West Coast of Barbados as it is one of only a few resorts to have such large lush gardens that stretch from the road down to the sea. This places apartment Ocean Blue well away from road noise. We are located in Alamanda which is the first building closest to the sea.
Glitter Bay was originally the home of the Cunard family and a Great House originally stood on this site. They planted a coconut grove and happily Glitter Bay still stands in this today. There is a large lagoon style swimming pool, plus a big circular children’s wading pool and bridge. There are plenty of comfortable sun-loungers with mattresses and parasols surrounding the pool, and also on the beach. Glitter Bay has a sensible beach policy which saves you having to get up early in the morning to reserve your spot. On arrival at the beach on your first morning, locate the beach attendant and advise him where you would like to sit, these are your seats for the remainder of your holiday unless you wish to move. A daily beach towel service is available from the concierge desk. The barbecue can be booked a day in advance and is situated in front of the bar overlooking the beach. When you make a reservation a small charge is made for gas.
Two tennis courts, table tennis and small gym are also available at no extra cost.
The resort was designed above all to promote a sense of total relaxation, although relaxing and soaking up the sunshine is an undeniably popular pursuit, Barbados offers fascinating historic towns along with wildlife reserves and vibrant nightlife. Glitter Bay is located one hour from the airport. Shopping at Holetown is five minutes away by car and there is a bus stop outside the gate. In Holetown there is a supermarket, bakery, several banks, a post office and the little Chattel Village with its boutiques, café and a high end deli. Lime Grove, the beautifully designed lifestyle complex is also in Holetown. Here there are two cinemas, luxury boutiques including Channel, Louis Viton and many other well know top brands, bars and restaurants. Rejuvenate mind and body, unwind and take a break from everyday life, the Sandy Lane, Coral Reef Club and Royal Westmorland spas are all a short distance away from the apartment.
